Tone Pilates is Vancouver BC's first and only mobile Pilates studio. Though the area has many studios where one can learn Pilates, Tone Pilates is the only one that works on your terms by coming directly to you. You provide a room, we set up a temporary Pilates studio and teach a class, then we quickly pack up and leave, making it easy for you to integrate a Pilates workout into your busy day, no matter where you are. We teach classical Pilates in the tradition of Romana Kryzanowska, heir to creator Joseph Pilates' work, and offer classes focused on mat, chair, and reformer work in private one-on-one sessions as well as for groups of two to four people.
If you have never considered Pilates for yourself, you should know that it is a versatile, low-impact, full-body workout with tremendous health benefits. Many people use Pilates to get in shape, gain strength, and become more fit, but it can specifically do much more than that. Pilates emphasizes core stability, breathing, and mind-body wellness, which in turn can help you improve your flexibility, circulation, posture, stamina, balance, and coordination. The founder of Tone Pilates, Oliver Giving, was a Hatha yoga practitioner for 13 years, and a yoga teacher for five of those, who discovered Pilates in a time of healing. After experiencing a number of health setbacks as a consequence of high-impact exercises, running and weight lifting, he discovered the power of Pilates during two years of study. He then enrolled in the Advanced Teacher Training Program at Pilates from the Center in North Vancouver. Though his program called for 950 hours of training and practice, he logged 1200 hours working under Pilates instructors Matilda Christensen, Veronica Mcclurg and Katherine Denham.
